Alright, I know that there are many Rainbow Six fans out there that really want to go back and play the old-school classical Rainbow Six games again, (Rogue Spear as well.) and I know that many of you are having a hard time getting these games to work on
your modern Windows 7 64-Bit PC's off the game disc but however, I have figured out how to get it to work, because this trick has been tested and has worked on several Windows 7 64-Bit PC's as I have tested them because this experiment has come a long way
and I do hope that it works for you, and others as well because I figured this out while playing around with the setup.exe on the disc via My Computer and finally got it to work off of my disc, if you have this game on GOG, then I wouldn't bother reading this
because this is used to help those that have the classic Rainbow Six games on the disc.
First off, let's say you want to play the original old-school Rainbow Six (1998) game, if you have the disc, go ahead and put it into your PC Drive then run the Autorun, after you've clicked "Install Rainbow Six" and get an incompatibility message, follow
the listed step below.
-Go to my computer, then right click on the drive in which the game disc is in, click "open" and find the setup.exe then right click on it then go to it's properties then on the compatibility tab, check "Run This Program In Compatibility Mode For Windows
7." (You Want To Run It In Compatibility Mode For Windows 7.) after that try running the setup.exe again, (it should work.) if that does not work, reboot your PC then try again.
But that's not all, for those of you that got it to work, I got one more thing for you after the installation, don't forget to update the game or if the game runs fine on your modern Windows 7 64-bit PC without the update, you also might experience some
flickering during a mission, to fix that, go enable "Force Software" in the game's option and that should fix it, but you will however experience some little FPS drops.
If you have the Eagle Watch expansion pack, put it's disc in and do the same thing as listed below (Or Above.) and then reboot your PC,
-Go To My Computer
-Right Click On The Drive In Which The Game Disc Is In Then Click Open
-Look For The Setup.exe
-Right Click On It's Properties Then Under The Compatibility Tab, Check "Run This Program In Compatibility Mode For Windows 7"
-Reboot And Install.
Repeat these steps above if you want to play Rogue Spear and it's expansion packs including Covert Ops, because it worked for me and the other Windows 7 64-bit PC's that I have experimented this with.
God speed and I hope it works for you Windows 7 64-Bit users
================================================================================
For Windows Vista 32-Bit users (Especially Laptop users.)
Usually the installation of these games work, but however the games crash upon startup, the fix for this is, (If The Original Rainbow Six 1998 Works And Plays Fine.) and Rogue Spear and it's expansion packs don't (Because It Crashes Upon Startup.) I recommend
deleting eax.dll in Rogue Spear's directory (C:/Program Files (x86)/Red Storm Entertainment/Rogue Spear) and replacing it with the SmackW32.dll from the original Rainbow Six's directory (Just Copy And Paste It.) and it should work because this has been tested
on my Windows Vista 32-bit laptop and it ran just fine.
I hope this trick works for Windows Vista 32-Bit Users as well, and god speed.
REMEMBER TO UPDATE THE GAMES!
