It is taking an extremely long time to access the internet on my Windows 7 computer. five minutes, or more in many cases.

I was told to go to Safe Mode to see if I had better luck, but when I use F8 in start-up my computer boots in the normal mode. I have a daskeyboard (wired). How can I access the Safe Mode?

    Hi,

Accessing Safe Mode using F8 function key can be tricky. You need to continuously tap the key not just long press it, doing this takes a lot of practice. One way of activating Safe Mode from Normal Mode is to click the Start button, go to Control Panel, then Run, type msconfig and hit Enter. Select  the Boot tab and check the box before Safe Boot. After that, click on Apply and OK.

To go back to Normal Mode, uncheck Safe Boot then click on Apply and OK.

    Hi,

You tap F8 at power on for that, not hold it down.

And some Keyboards have an F-lock Key in upper right hand side which would prevent you using F Keys.

And you need to select Safe Mode with Networking for internet access.

But that only works with Ethernet Cable, not Wireless.

    Cheers.

Forget safe mode,in windows open internet options, edit & set all to default, then in advanced tab, locate reset to

    advanced settings button,close out.Next open cmd,type:  appwiz.cpl  open Win components,L.sub menu,edit

allow Win services, .NET is a must, once thru exit, edit firewall/exceptions tab,at least allow IE access, edit for

others.Plus go to pc mfg web for downloads..
