Messenger on Nokia Lumia 635
I have been using fb messenger on my device for some time. Yesterday there was a message to update the app. After trying this, it said I needed to reinstall the app. I've done this and now my screen just says 'waiting for network'. I am not very technically minded and wondered if this is a Microsoft problem and if so, how to fix it please?

2017-04-04T10:01:21+00:00 I had the same problem on my Microsoft Nokia Lumia 635. This is how I eventually fixed it.
I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 following Microsoft's instructions (be prepared for this to take an hour or so to download, then another half hour or so to perform the upgrade) - here is the link for the app https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/p/upgrade-advisor/9nblggh0f5g4
(If this doesn't work, I think you are into either doing without Messenger or buying a new phone as it probably means your device is not currently upgradeable to Windows 10.)
Then after lots of time trying unsuccessfully to get Messenger to work, and getting the same 'waiting for network' message, I unistalled both Facebook and Messenger.
After that, I performed a soft reset on the phone (by holding down the - volume and power button at the same time until the phone vibrated (about 10 seconds) - don't touch the screen during this time, ignore the 'slide down to power off message. Don't worry, this doesn't delete anything from your phone!
I then powered back on, went to the Windows Store and reinstalled Facebook, followed by Messenger, and bingo! I was relieved to see that all my previous messages were accessible too.
Hope this help some other people who are having the same problem - let me know.

If your Lumia 635 is the version with 1GB RAM it can be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile and then you can use the messenger again. If you have the 512MB RAM version you cannot upgrade it to W10M, so you will need to either access Facebook via the browser and read/send messages from the website or get a different phone.
