I am trying to delete a file off an external drive and get this error

Windows for home | Previous Windows versions | Files, folders, and storage

    Hi,

    ·         Does this happen with any particular type of file or with all the files?

    ·         Are you the administrator of the computer?

    Method 1: Try deleting the files in safe mode.

    Method 2: Refer to  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-cant-I-delete-a-file-or-folder

    I tried deleting the file in safe mode, but still get the same error message.  the link to method 2 does not work.
