I recently installed GTA 3 game on my HP 250 laptop computer. When I open the GTA3.exe file, it says "Cannot find 640x480 video mode". I have tried all the compatibility settings but none of them work. My specifications are- Windows 7, 64 bit, Intel Core i3-4005U CPU @1.70 GHz, 4.0 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics Family. Note that I have not 'downloaded' the game. I got it from my brother's laptop which also has Windows 7 operating system. This problem also happens with many games on my laptop. Thanks.

If you have tried the compatibility mode - https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html including the first two under settings *( 1. Run in 256 colors & 2. Run in 640x480 resolution, and also set it for either XP-SP3 or even W98 compatibility ),*and it hasn't worked, then are you running the games via Steam?

If you are running via Steam then see if this helps - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1972456

Maybe its because of the same problem i had. When i tried to change screen resolution on my computer (not my game) i could only go as low as 1024x768. So i made my own custom setting, and put it on 640x480 60hz and one on 800x600 60hz. After a restart it worked, i could start my game. I changed the resolution in game to a much higher option so that i would not have to use my custom settings. The reason i dont want to permanently use the custom settings is because of warnings i got from my Intel graphicard settings software i used to make custom settings. Sorry if the english is on par, but i hope this worked.

Fist check the maximum resolution for your display

I have installed it in Windows 7 x64 and it works fine

if it won't open, try running it with admin rights

    that should fix any problem

    my display resolution is 1366x768.
