Is there a user manual or set up guide for the Microsoft 5050 mouse and keyboard? There are soft keys that I'd like to set up but have lost/misplaced/discarded the original packaging.

The "literature" packaged with Microsoft keyboards or mouse/keyboard sets is not helpful. You can see for yourself here:
