Why do I need to uninstall Steam to upgrade to Windows 10 Creator's Update?

So I get the Creator's Update.  But it won't update, because it is trying to force me to uninstall Steam first.  Why Microsoft?  I don't have anything auto-running with Windows.  I install something, I go into settings, and turn that off.  So I restarted, did not run any apps, did the Update, and get the exact same window again, Microsoft wanting me to uninstall Steam.  Why are they forcing that, and how do I get past it without uninstalling Steam?

    Step 2: Quit Steam app

Step 3: Rename Steam folder to Steam2

    Step 4: Retry windows update

    Step 5: Finish update

Step 6: Rename Steam2 folder to Steam

    Dear Microsoft Bot,

Everyone mocked Tim Sweeney and even the great GabeN for predicting this BS. You want to uninstall my STEAM installation? Are you mental? You think I have the free-space to back up terabytes of data? You can take my STEAM out of my cold dead hands Microsoft. Nobody wants GFWL 2.0, aka UWP & the Windows Store DRM jerk club full of trashware Apps.

Even Halo has lost its appeal, Bungie had the talent and you lost that; Hired Gun, Certain Affinity, 343i, 4Game, what a bunch of hacks....none of them have what Bungie had, that spark of creativity. Halo 4 featured dropped weapons that instantly despawned and the co-op ran like molasses, surprise surprise, you removed the split-screen in Halo 5. And you cannot be bothered to release advertised features in the past PC releases such as: a fully functional Halo 2 Editing Kit, split-screen on the PC, any hope of finishing the fight, as in, tens years later and there is still no Halo 3 PC. So here on the PC we get the message, you despise us. This will only drive more people to the STEAM OS and other flavors of Linux.

Stop trying to replace decent applications like Windows Photo Viewer with that Photos garbage. Its for casuals, so stop pushing it on us. And this is across the board, you are systematically dismantling everything that made Windows the best choice for compatibility and ease of use. Its takes me more steps to accomplish most tasks than it did in Windows 7, that is going backwards, its counterproductive and wasteful. You can polish a turd but its still a turd. We don't want UWP, we don;t want Apps, but you won't listen, you want a walled Xbox branded [SPONSORED CONTENT HERE] garden. I don't even like Mountain Dew that much, how many cans do I need to drink this time?

Good luck downloading anything from the MS Store as it just restarts randomly, at this point I've been trying to download Gears of War 4 since December, around five months, w t f? Meanwhile STEAM is a meowphukin' champ, does what I tell it to and stays outta the way.

Don't mess with my software Microsoft, I paid for Windows 8. I know that we were supposed to get a service pack for Win8.1 that would return the proper Start Menu, instead you rebranded it as Windows 10. You are trying to increase profit margins with more and more ads inside of Win10, and always trying to exclude x86 and any entity that does not feed the MS UWP App hivemind. You are and continue to be detrimental to computing. You stole all of your good features from Linux, then you pawn them off as new, features that are over two decades old, its pathetic the hurdles you will place in the way of progress and unbridled creativity. You also destroyed many good game developers in your wake. Oh and you sacrificed the PC SideWinder brand to build up the Xbox brand. You do not respect nor listen to your customers as you have grown too large to care. Mr Gates knows how to play the game, doesn't matter if its Apple or Microsoft, he always wins.

/rant /middle finger extended as high and hard as it will go /I hope this has been helpful information /this will be deleted will it not? /wheres my rebate from my 3 IntelliMouse from Y2K, only been waiting 17 freakin years now and I remind you every year and all you do is laugh /just w t f?

Are you saying rename Steam folder, don't uninstall, do update, rename?  Or rename, uninstall, update, rename?

Weird, I was able to upgrade without it prompting to uninstall Steam (I have Steam). Did you use the Windows Upgrade Assistant?

Just rename Steam folder. Install update. Rename back Steam folder. Boom you are done.
