Hey!

I'm keep looking for a answer for my question but I can't find one in any of submited topics. I've installed new drivers from realtek.com but I still have no sound in my PC. I've plugged my laptop with the same speakers to check if the problem is not a speakers, but they work fine. Somethings wrong with the drivers or the PC, I don't know. And my recording devices showing that my Microphone is "Not plugged in", but it is. Maybe someone has a solution for my problem? I've recently reinstalled my windows, but everything else works fine.

Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community!

Let's try the following methods and verify if it resolves the issue:

Let's make sure that the speakers are connected to the computer and switched on and Windows Audio sound is up and running and not mute or low.

Method 1: To update your Audio driver in device manager:

    1.   Click Start, and then click Control Panel

    2.   Click System and Maintenance

    3.   Underneath Device Manager, click View hardware and devices

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue

    4.   Expand Sound, video and game controllers

    5.   Right-click your Audio controller, and click Properties

    6.   Select the Driver tab

    7.   Click the Update Driver button.

    8.   Select Search automatically for updated driver software

Windows will now search for an update for your Audio drivers locally and on the internet, then walk you through the process of installing the driver.  If it is unable to find a driver you can go to your Sound Card manufacturer’s website and download any updated drivers.

To find the manufacturer and model of your Sound Card:

    1.   Click Start, and then click Control Panel

    2.   Click System and Maintenance

    3.   Underneath Device Manager, click View hardware and devices

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue

    4.   Expand Sound, video and game controllers

Under Sound, video and game controllers you will see the manufacturer and model of your sound card.  If you need help finding the driver, please provide this information to us and we can try to find it for you.

Method 2: Show Disabled devices and Set speaker as default

Perform the task mentioned below to set speaker as default:

    1. Go to Start and click on control Panel.
    2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.
    3. In the new windows click on the tab"Playback" and right click in the window and click on Show Disabled devices.
    4. Now check if Speaker is listed there and right click on it and choose enable.
    5. Highlight that speaker and click on "Set as Default"

Method 3. Try compatibility mode of Windows Vista:

If it does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below to install this software in Windows VISTA SP1 Compatibility mode:

    1. Right click on the setup file.
    2. Go to properties.
    3. Click on Compatibility mode.
    4. Place a check mark the box  in the box in front of  “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and from the drop down menu choose Windows Vista SP1.
    5. Place a check mark on "Run as an Administrator" under privileges level and click on Apply and then Ok.
    6. Now double click on the setup file to initiate the install.

You can find more information about compatibility modes in the articles below:

My Headphones nor speakers are not plugged in

my computer has Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and Ive searched  a lot and most of it says that I should either uninstall it and install for it again or install an alternative driver, for my case i did both, I uninstalled Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and i tried installing Realtek but it wasnt in the options so I just let install a driver and again, back to the Digital Audio (S/PDIF). I have only null knowledge when it comes to stuffs like this so can somebody please help me?? I possibly cant use my computer without any sound.

P.S. Ive already updated its driver but nothing happened.

    Greetings, Anusha,

I've tried to do the 1st and 2nd steps, I've tried even to download the drivers manualy and that didn't helped at all.  And it's Windows 7 Ultimate. I think it is High Definition Audio Device (S/PDIF). But there's another problem. My microphone is plugged in, but in recording devices it shows that my microphone is not plugged in. I'm desperate...

Thank you very much for your reply but i have luckily solved my problem. Answering your questions, yes it does not produce any sound at all, it literally does not produce a sound. Later on i found out that my audio jack was broken, so my sister fixed it and said that inside the cpu it was a little loose. And that the front jack of the cpu is broken so just plugged the one in the back which is the one that is said to be loose, oh and there was no particular problem with the audio drivers.

Ps. Thank you again and for this i have gained new knowledge, idk why but i felt like an idiot searchg for hours and tryna fix things and trying to act cool fixing it myself hehe *sigh
