Paid $199 to SupportNex , are they legit? (Remote access was permitted)

First post here.

recently while trying to recover a missing GoPro video I registered for a software called Stellar Photo Recovery, which is legit. However while encountering difficulties with the registration I called a number supposedly for Stellar support which had a guy with a Indian accent who told me to go to upc123.com to download something and took control of my PC and successfully fixed the Stellar registration problem. But after that he convinced me to spend 199 on SupportNex, which he promised would improve the PC.

Afterwards I googled them and found almost nothing. I decided it may not be legit but their site does state they have refund option so I called them and he promised refund in 5-10 business days. Should I trust them, or immediately go to my bank and withdraw the 199$ transaction, which is still pending?

the thing is I leave the country for 2 weeks in a few days so I don't want to get into any legal issues since I won't be able to make calls and stuff.

here is their site: www.supportnex.com

thanks in advance

I would run these tools besides Norton.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Free trial reverts to manual scanner after 14 days.

    Zemana AntiMalware (Free)

    Junkware Removal Tool (Free)

If you can get the payment reversed, do it! I googled Stellar Photo Recovery Reviews and I can't say I was impressed. A free tool like this would be just as good.

    Recuva

Now to your scam issue. Now you must consider everything on your computer has been compromised. Passwords, PIN numbers, financial account information. A clean install of Windows is the best option, but at the very least, the following.

Thank you very much Bruce Hagen. I am currently changing my passwords using my iOS devices. Now your link talks of Malware removal. I'm currently doing a full system scan using Norton. Will that be enough to detect and remove malware?

I would definitely get back to the bank if I didn't see a refund in the next week.

Before I saw your post I ran Norton full scan which found nothing, along with Norton Power Eraser which kept going after my innocent flight simulator files. Then I saw your post and downloaded your first link. Malwarebytes was able to right away found 2 malware and I quarantined them. That was nice. Makes me wonder why Norton ,which is widely known and payware, couldn't even match up with Malwarebytes.

And also a bit off topic of the computer stuff; I'm trying to get the $199 back. I called my bank (Chase) and they said I needed to call the merchant for them to stop the payment. I called them and to my surprise they are promising a refund within the next few days. I asked for the name of the person speaking, and he said "Karen" (heavy indian accent, male; they always seem to give extremely western names like Richard, Karen, etc) When I asked for a refund reference number they said there isn't one but again assured me that the refund has been "escalated" (I assume this means "commenced"?). Anyway, any advice on whether I should take further action with the bank like making a dispute or wait and see if the refund shows up within the next few days?
