Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.245.41.0) failed to install
I have Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop.
My latest Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.245.41.0) failed to install with this Unknown Error: Code 80070005 ("WindowsUpdate_80070005" "WindowsUpdate_dt000").
I restarted windows, disable my Bitdefender but was getting the same error.
I downloaded mpass-fe.exe to manually update the defender. When it runs it doesn't give any messages. But when I look in About for Windows Defender I still see the only old definitians.
I even reset the entire Windows Updates:
- stop the "windows update" service (services.msc)
- delete all the contents inside the folder "C:\windows\
It took a while for Windows Updates to rebuild the store but I am getting the same error trying to update Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.245.41.0) when run it from Windows Updates (see the photo).

2017-05-30T20:47:47+00:00 Both of your profiles appear to be present/working now. Dunno if you can sign-in to both of them though. [Things typically go haywire on Microsoft's end during and after 3-day holiday weekends - Memorial Day Weekend (USA) 2017 doesn't seem to be an exception to the rule. My various links to the MS Answer Desk haven't been working for the past 24-hours or so. Your profile issues may be another symptom of the cock-up. YMMV]
Tell me how (exactly) you're "disabling" the Bitdefender application? Also tell me how (exactly) you uninstalled/remove AVG Free? [None of my business but are you a VMI cadet?] -

2017-05-30T03:58:09+00:00 Sorry, I did not notice you asked me do not quote.
BTW, I tried to reply using my login but it looked like it was disabled or something weird as I was asking to sign-in to reply when I clicked to sign-in it brought me to this page but did not really signed me so I was clicking back between "Reply" and "sign in with Microsoft account". Finally I had to sign up with another ID to get through!
Was my original ID banned from forum?
Anyway, AVG is not currently installed but Bitdefender is. However, since Windows Updates worked fine with it before the specific update plus since I tried to disable Bitdefender and run update again and it did not help Bidefender support has nothing to say about it. I can uninstall Bitdefender completely and try again but I doubt it will change anything since what I said above.

Is Bitdefender or AVG currently installed (or is no third-party anti-virus application currently installed)?
What has Bitdefender Support had to say about this?

- Can you successfully update Flash Player to version 25.0.0.171 (or higher) by opening Internet Explorer ONLY to this page? => http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash

- BEWARE any pre-checked options to "drive-by" install unwanted, third-party software (e.g., Google Toolbar; McAfee Security Scan Plus)!
TIP => Allow Flash Player to auto-update since you're not keeping it updated manually! Your current version dates from January/February 2013 and is subject to tens of thousands of security vulnerabilities!
