I have attempted to respond to a thread covering this issue but was told it was closed.  I am therefore attempting to offer a solution.

This problem has occurs because, at some time, you will have accepted free online scans or downloaded free software which contains cookies prepared by ScorecardReseach.  The provider of the free services gets a fee and the cookie redirects your web browser to another site where all of your online activity is monitored before you are redirected to your chosen web site.  The effect of this is to seriously slow down your browsing activity.

The easiest solution is to go to the ScorecardResearch web site with each browser that you use and, under Preferences, simply press click here and they will remove your cookie so that you will be troubled no more.

Well, I wouldn't advise going to their site to get rid of their cookie. I wouldn't be going there again, but that's just me.

I hadn't really checked into it much, but this is what I found for removal instr... in case anyone's getting those popups, redirects, etc.

Technically, the ad supported software is not a virus, but it generates a huge number of advertising, hindering or completely blocking the work in the browser. It may install other unknown and unwanted software without your permission, force you to visit malicious sites. Moreover, with the ad supported software, a browser hijacker can be additionally installed on to your PC, that will replace your start page with an unwanted site.

I use WOT (Web of trust) browser extension, and a Google search shows a Red dot by that URL. (see below) That means "don't go there" or visit at your own risk. Additionally, viewing WOT details on that site, shows it contains malware.

IOW, it'd be safer to delete their cookie yourself. EDIT: Spyware Blaster may have it added in restricted sites. Nonetheless, it's a good addition to your arsenal of security apps.

It is nice to see that you too recommend removing the cookie itself - that is what I said too and using the web site that I provided does just that.  Incidentally, I did identify the cookie first then checked after ScorecardReseach web site was asked to remoive their cookie and I can confirm that the cookie had been removed.
