My laptop reported something similar recently and I'm going to presume an update fixed the issue as Magician is reporting my SSD drive correctly.
I couldn't say if it was a Windows or Samsung update. I believe my Magician is v 5.

Samsung SSD no longer recognized by Samsung Magician - System sees SSD as an ATA Drive and slows down a lot. My system has been running fine for months since installing the Samsung Evo 850 SSD, but starting Saturday, 5/6/17, I noticed it seemed to be running slow again, like it ran before I installed my SSD. Now I get a message saying "Magician is unable to find a Samsung SSD connected to your system...". Scary!!! When I check the drive in Device Manager it says it is running, obviously, but as ATA. Samsung says to install the standard AHCI controller driver for Windows 10, but I can't find one.
ANY IDEAS, PEOPLE? Has a Windows update caused this? HELP!!

The problem seems to have solved itself. Maybe some kind of CMOS glitch. Thanks for the help :-)
Hi James,
Usually today's motherboards will have AHCI enabled in the BIOS by default. In this case, we suggest that you contact your computer manufacturer. They have the best capability to assist you with this specific concern.
Feel free to post back should you have further concerns.
