I want to remove images from my Desktop Background options

In the Display Properties settings, I have several photo's and images which I have added in the past as desktop background. I now would like to remove these from the list but I cannot find a way to do this. Is there another folder somewhere which holds a copy of the files for the specific purpose of displaying as the desktop background.

Thank-you,

Vanguard_1

The pictures that are showing up the DISPLAY PROPERTIES, DESKTOP can be found at these locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures

C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

Also, check under “My Computer” / “Shared Documents/Shared Pictures”.

To stop all your pictures from showing up in the list, create another folder outside the “My Pictures” folder and save all your pictures in that folder then they won’t be listed.

Might I offer some additional insight? The issue raised by Vanguard_1 is quite common and I find the recommended solution to be undesirable and less than optimal. What I've discovered is that it's only bitmap images (.bmp) that are displayed in the Display Properties, Desktop. So, in lieu of moving all of my photos, I simply do not save bitmap images in any of those folders. Rather, I save all of my images in either JPG, GIF or PNG format. Problem solved.
