if you see any names in your CONTROL PANEL: + USER ACCOUNT that you did not create or allow someone to have access to your computer, (sometimes friends use someone else's computer without their knowledge)., YOU SHOULD JUST DELETE THAT ACCOUNT.
How do I remove an unauthorized user profile in windows 7?
In addition to my username, there is another that seems to be connected to every file on my computer. I go to Microsoft paint for instance. The computer selects C:\phantom\program files \Microsoft\ paint. Phantom does not exist however and paint fails to engage. Now I can't even get chrome firefox or internet explorer. What can I do???
Thank you

2017-08-01T03:45:05+00:00 Click Start, type user accounts in the Search box, and press Enter. You should see something like the following (although "Owner" will be replaced by your account name).
If "Administrator" appears beneath your user name (as in the image above), click "Manage another account." What accounts are listed there?
How do you know that when you go to Microsoft Paint, "The computer selects C:\phantom\program files\Microsoft\paint"?
Even if you're substituting "phantom" for some other name that appears there, that's not where the Microsoft Paint executable is located. That file is C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe

2017-08-01T03:30:34+00:00 As PHILLYJOE said, go to your control panel go to User Accounts or Accounts. Click on the account that you want to delete and then I think it is Remove Account or Delete Account Something alone those lines and then delete it.
Hope I could help,

2017-08-01T02:15:41+00:00 thanks Phillyjoe.
that's why I refer to it as 'Phantom.' When I try to delete it, it seems to proliferate. Is there a specific procedure to delete?
