    Hi Sanat,

This could be caused by a Hotspot Shield driver installed into the network connection. Let us try and resolve the issue. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button,
    • Choose Control Panel
    • Select Network and Internet,
    • Click on Network and Sharing Center, and then choose Manage network connections.
    • Under Manage network connections page, right click the connection that you are using and select Properties.
    • Restart the computer and check if it worked.

Since this is a connectivity issue, we also recommend that you contact your Internet service provider technical support.

This often seems to be cured by deleting the cache for system notification area icons.

See the October 11, 2010, post from N1ck_H on the first page of this long thread:  https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/red-x-on-system-tray-connection-icon-even-though-i/5a352660-2808-40d9-b363-97865193e50b

This is similar, except it recommends deleting only two values rather than 5 (the difference may be because this post was dealing with Vista):  https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/clean-up-past-notification-icons-in-windows-vista/

I would follow the advice in the howtogeek article to export the TrayNotify key before you start, just in case.

Also note the warning in the reference cited in N1ck_H's post:  WARNING: This fix also deletes your trayicon settings (which icons are shown and which are hidden). So you have to set these options again.

I noticed that the icon shown in your screenshot indicates that you're connected to a "work" network.  The main (perhaps only) difference between "home" and "work" networks is that "work" networks can't create or join HomeGroups.  If you don't use the HomeGroup feature (or if this really is a work network), you don't need to do anything.
