Display Color calibration resets when starting a game/full screen application.

Done a color calibration with Display color calibration. Works well except when I start a game or a fullscreen application.

When i start the game the colors goes back to default and the contrast/brightness sets to the games settings. After closing the game the color settings will not go back to the settings it had when I calibrated them. They will just be at the default that it got when starting the game.

Also tried to use my graphic card software to calibrate, but with the same result.

So my question, is there any way to get a good calibration that don't jump back to default?

The best would be if the colors, gamma, contrast and brightness stay the same all the time. in games has well has in windows and in applications.

Games use DirectX technology to control their own gamma and other settings.  Unfortunately in this case, Windows yields control to those programs (it allows the program to do what it wishes).  If the game or program is not behaving correctly ("being a good citizen"), then you may want to contact the manufacturer of the program.

The windows 10 solution to this problem:

I think I had this same problem after the Creator's update, if I'm correct - the solution lies in the gaming settings they'd added. They're the problem.

    Close any 3D intensive applications.

Home (Windows Start Button on the bottom left of the screen) > Settings > Gaming >

Disable "Open Game Bar using this button on a controller"

    Disable "Game Bar"

    Go to "Game Mode" tab

    Disable "Use Game Mode"

    Close and reboot your machine.

This was the solution for me. My color and gamma settings stick again. Hopefully this helps.

Same problem here. Started happening since the Creators Update.

It's NOT a problem in the game. It's a problem in Windows. Please, how to fix it??

If the game adjusts the settings when starting, it is the game's responsibility to adjust them back upon exit.  Windows does not (and should not be required to) check every 10 seconds to see if some other program has made a change.  What if that other program was a display calibration system itself, provided by the video card driver, for example?  If Windows kept re-enforcing its own "last known" settings, all kinds of companies would call foul, people would complain, and I imagine they'd fall under Dept. of Justice inquiry just like they did back in the 90's when they kept forcing IE to be default over Netscape.

If the game changes the settings, then isn't considerate enough to change them back when it's done, you're going to have to contact whomever created that game.

I don't use the internal Windows calibration, but a USB device to calibrate my monitor.  I was so frustrated with D3D games overriding my calibration, I wrote some tools to fix it.  They're free and open source, see the web site for more info @ http://colorclutch.sourceforge.net/

    Hope this helps!
