Hello.

I have an English version of win 8. And sometimes there appears French keyboard layout. I don't know why.

Can anyone please explain why it appears, and how to prevent it?

Well, not exactly. I do have Windows 10 (Pro, 64-bit version), and I discovered this bug a couple of days ago. A French keyboard layout randomly appears and it is not shown in the preferences. To get rid of it, I have to manually add French and then remove it. But then it arises again like a phoenix from the ashes. Such minor issue causes so much pain in the a**!

This exactly the bug I have too..and most annoying as sometimes it changes Querty whilst typing. I have only one selection that is Swiss german keyboard loaded in the language panel with windows running English. Without reason, even on start up it chooses something different, which mucks up any password syntax. I don't think MS realises how much choas this causes, esp when the spelling checker starts in office/word/excel and finds loads of faults. There is a sneak default on start-up that chooses a random language selection, not defined in the control panel settings.

I've reloaded Win8 without any improvement.

Work on it MS....to me this is a bad bug.

Hi, did you manage to find out the cause of it? I have a AZERTY keyboard with English and Russian layouts but yesterday 2 different French layouts appeared on their own.

Appears how?   Do you have multiple keyboards configured?   If so, in W8 you could toggle between them by pressing Win-Space (or Win-Shift-Space).

Hello, I have the same problem:

My laptop has a Swiss keyboard layout (physical). I've installed two combinations of Language/layout to work: EnglisUK + Swiss French layout and Russian + Russian. However I have two additional combinations being added automatically (see the picture_ first two are created by me, last two - added automatically).

They don't appear in the normal list so it is impossible to remove them manually. I've tried the solution proposed by you and it didn't work. Any other suggestions?
