    Hello Don,

You can try the following to resolve the error 1935.

    Step 1:

This error may occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.

Try the below step to reinstall and repair the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer and later check if you can install the software.

    a)   Click the Start button, click  Control Panel, click Programs, and then click "Turn Windows features on or off." If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    b)   Locate Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1, uncheck the box, click OK and restart the computer.

    c)    After the restart again open "Turn Windows features on or off" and place  a check mark next to Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1 and restart the computer.

    Step 2:

If the above step fails then I would suggest that you manually download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package and check if you can install the software.

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

    Thanks Marilyn:

Re: Step 1.  The window for "Turn Windows features on or off." is blank - absolutely nothing in it.  Is this strange?

Re; Step 2. I tried this before and just tried it again.  Downloaded vcredist_x86 and ran it.  Got the same error.

    Any other ideas?

    Cheers,

    Don

    Hi Don MacLennan,

    1. Which program are you trying to install?
    2. When exactly does this error message occur on your computer (While opening any application,at startup or while installing any updates)?

An unsuccessful install of prior Windows Updates OR Custom MSI packages could have left over faulty registry keys underHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS

Uninstall any other program or antivirus is installed on your computer, because to avoid conflict between two antivirus programs or two similar programs.

Refer: Uninstall or change a program in windows.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Uninstall-or-change-a-program

    Thanks Suresh:

I am trying to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable when the error occurs - almost completes the installation, fails and rolls back.

I don't believe any of the Windows Updates have had problems installing.  At least I have not been informed of any problems.  There have been a lot of updates however so I'm not sure.

I removed MacAfee a few weeks ago in the hopes of fixing a "Not Responding" status message I was getting.  It didn't help - it still goes to sleep for a number of seconds (sometimes minutes) while nothing is happening with respect to CPU use, disk transfers or network activity.  Very annoying!  I now use Windows Defender for my anti virus.

Are there other programs I should be removing?  Your message was a little unclear on this point.

    Thanks again,

    Don
