Can't install Canoscan 8800F on newest Win10

The Canoscan 8800F drivers and software will not install on Win10.

I have researched this thoroughly online, in addition to removing any emulation modes, I have tried all OS emulation modes for Vista, 7, and 8, and all permutations and combinations of the following:

-Installing with device unplugged with clean boot beforehand, with nothing else running but Microsoft services.

-I have tried several different drivers for similar Canon products.

-I have tried installing through Devices & Printers,

-through Hardware Manager,

-and off my desktop

and I STILL can't get this device to install. This is very frustrating.

The device does not appear in devices & printers, and all the error messages with the various scanner-using softwares including MP Navigator that comes with the product, point to incompatibility, no driver, and no scanner.

I need a functional flatbed scanner. I have already had to trash other perfectly good machines because they have been made obsolete. I am feeling like I am quite a part of the landfill issues. Whatever happened to cradle-to-cradle designing, standardizing technologies, anyway?

How can we possibly save the human species from poisoning their ONLY home when industries keep generating this electronic trash to pay off their investors??? No wonder people are asking for regulations. When capitalists don't include the future of humanity into account when designing and producing products, then we are to be a short-lived species. What did Microsoft write into their system that effectively trashed a perfectly good piece of equipment? I don't understand why Microsoft has to keep recreating the hardware universe to make improvements. This is why people are flocking to Apple, Android, and Linux! Less grief for them; I am sure.

Similarly, as it takes two to make a software conflict, Canon has decided not to take care of existing customers by providing a compatible driver, then who wants to be one of their customers for any other products?

If anyone has a procedure that gives the steps to allow the Canoscan 8800F to function on my Win10 machine, I would appreciate it very much. I feel like I have tried everything, but maybe you have discovered a way. I don't want to buy third party software to run this equipment.

I followed the suggestions, ALL of them, in that post. I still can't get it to install. Something more has evidently changed.

I am disappointed, after so long, no one has thought to fix it. Two reputations have been affected. I have already told lots of Win 7 users to not bother upgrading to Win 10, or to go to Linux, or Mac, instead, and to not bother buying Canon scanners, since they don't keep up on their driver updates. I also had other issues that should not have been. So far, the emulation modes have not proved to be very useful.

This is too bad. With the internet, you can't outrun these building up of disappointments. It ruined Sears. It will ruin Microsoft. It is too bad.

At the least, like HP does with older printers, they would post a universal driver that would do basic function. To turn a functional scanner into trash is not helpful.

The Canon scanner 8800 F worked fine with Win 7 on my older desktop. I know scanners can be finicky to install, so I followed all directions provided, including those in the above.

Running emulation mode doesn't work to install this Canon scanner. The driver continues to be not compatible and generates error messages indicating software conflict, no matter which software I use to contact the scanner, music software, Adobe CS6 software, etc, including the MP navigator program that comes with the drivers.

I had no trouble installing the Epson sheet scanner. I had no trouble installing an older HP laser printer, using the universal driver. I even tried unplugging all of these peripherals thinking it might be a port capacity issue. I changed cables. I have power to my scanner when it is plugged in. There is nothing wrong with the scanner.

I tried all of the emulation modes for Vista, Win 7, for 8 (which I never had). I tried all of the provided drivers corresponding to the emulation mode I was using. Each time, before installing again, I uninstalled the software and rebooted the machine with clean boots. Each time, the scanner was not plugged in until the driver and MP Navigator were installed and the Navigator software prompted plugging in.

I worked on this problem for a solid 2 days. I still don't know what I did wrong, or why this scanner does not install. I am currently doing without a scanner since I spent too much money building a new desktop and then finding out the processor required Win 10 to run (is this really true, that Intel and MS couldn't make them work together, or was this more of the proprietary planned obsolescence marketing crap that fills up our local landfills?????).

If anyone has successfully installed this Canon 8800F scanner on their Win 10 Home 64 bit desktop, I would like to know what exactly you did to make it work. Spell out each step, please. I am not interested in installing any third party software, or spending any more money on new equipment.

If Win 10 has any update since last month to address this issue, please let me know.

BTW, a *shrug* doesn't work, either.
