    Hi Mohamed,

You might be experiencing this issue because of corrupted search index, or the Windows Search service is not working properly. To diagnose and fix this problem, we suggest that you run the System File Checker tool. This utility allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

We also recommend that you download any pending updates that need to be installed through Windows Update and check if it helps resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, let's rebuild the search index on your computer. Please note that while the steps to initiate the rebuilding process are simple and quick, the actual process you are initiating can take quite some time depending on how much data Windows has to index. Here are the steps:

    1. Right-click the Start Menu, and select Control Panel.
    2. If you are in Category view, change the view in the upper-right part of Control Panel to Large icons or Small icons.
    3. After changing the view, select Indexing Options.
    4. Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced Options dialog box.
    5. In the Index Settings tab, under Troubleshooting, click Rebuild.

Keep us updated with the results, and we will be glad to assist you further.

I get the "no results found" message on a fairly regular basis for searches in folders that have files that meet the search criteria - at least once every month or so. When I check the Indexing Options, I find that the system is currently indexing files and folders.

This is a royal pain. I use Windows search fairly regularly in my business. Why is Windows search/indexing so unreliable? My Windows system is up-to-date and I have deleted and rebuilt the indexes at least 4 or 5 times in the past year or so. Still, every month or so I get the message "no results found" for a search even though thousands of files in the folder being searched meet the search criteria.

    Hi Glenn,

If we understood it correctly, you have already tried the troubleshooting steps provided by Gino Des and still gets the "no results found" when using Windows Search every once in a while. To help us provide additional help, we'd like to verify if you have also tried creating a new user profile to check if the same issue will occur.

Since you have already tried running the System File Checker, we also recommend running DISM. This tool can diagnose system file corruption and repair it in case the System File Checker was not able to detect any errors.

We will wait for your response.
