I cannot use my Sony Walkmans with any of the Windows music apps you offer. How can this be resolved? Should I return my laptop and fix my old one with Windows Vista so that I can use my current MP3 players?

I just ran a Google search for your devices and came across this FAQ page for Sony Walkman NWZ-E385:

    http://www.sony.com.my/support/product/nwz-e385/faq

Reading through the information in there, it appears to me that if you want to transfer media from your computer to that device or vice-versa, the best way to go is to install the Media Go software in the computer and use it to do that job. Here is the link to download Media Go:

    http://mediago.sony.com/enu/features

You need to install this software in the computer, plug in the Walkman using the connector cables that you have and then using this software, you need to transfer the music to the device.

    Does that help?

Installing the Media Go is not the answer.  It still doesn't recognize the device.   Sony stated the drivers in Windows 10 should recognize the device and it doesn't.  The device says it's USB Connected so it's waiting.    Now I wish I hadn't upgraded to 10.   I don't like when stuff stops working and you have to go through all sorts of hoops to make it work.  I wanted to continue to use iTunes to put music on the device.
