Command & conquer Generals won't work on windows 10

I installed command and conquer generals to my currently Windows 10 computer but I can't play the game. I tried switching the compatibility to Windows XP, and run it as an administrator but it still won't work. The main page will come out and it keeps loading until the entire program become unresponsive. This happens exactly the same even when I was using windows 8.1. I'm using an

Intel core I5-4200U@1.60Ghz2.30Ghz

4GB ram

Nividia GeForce 820m computer.
