I installed anti-virus software and I want to run it, but I can't find it anywhere. I go into Start, Control Panel, Security, but there is nothing that says " Malware protection, Virus protection or Spyware and other malware protection". Please help.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting the updated status of the issue.

    1)      What is the name of the antivirus software installed?

Step 1: I would suggest you to try searching for the installed software using Windows search and check if you are able to find it.

Step 2: If you are able to find, then I would suggest you to create a shortcut of exe and pin it to taskbar and check if the issue persists.

Hope this helps. Try the above steps and get back to us for further assistance with requested details. We will be happy to help you.

    Thank you for the response.

It is not listed under my Programs but I did not delete it.

In the Action Center under Security it says under Virus Protection:

"Microsoft Security Essentials reports that it is up to date and virus scanning is on."

Before, I was able to find the virus software in the menu and adjust when it ran, but now I can't find it and can't remember how I found it before.

Any additional help would be great. Thanks.

Thank you for the response. I had recalled installing AVG but could not find it anywhere. When I looked at my programs again, I found Microsoft Security Essentials, and a box that says that it is doing regular virus scans. I was confused because I thought that I needed something in addition to the Microsoft product and that I had installed it, but I could not find it anywhere. So, I am embarrassed because it appears that it has been here the whole time.

I did pin it to the taskbar, but how do I create a shortcut of exe?

Thank you for your help and sorry I was confused.
