I can't use port 443 (e.g. with telnet) any more, it is not the local network as for other PCs on the same network it works, it is not the firewall nor the antivirus as it is the same after disabling them, the same with a clean boot, all drivers are updated, it looks free when I run Tcpview... I really don't know what else to check... please help...

thanks!

    Hi Lorenzo,

TCP port 443 is the standard TCP port that is used for a website which uses SSL. Since you've mentioned that the issue persists in a clean boot environment, it means that it's not caused by a software conflict. We'd like to know a few things so we can better address your concern.

    • Have you made any changes prior to the issue?
    • Are you getting any error messages?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Network troubleshooter. This can help diagnose and resolve common connection issues. To do so, please refer to these steps:

    1. Go to Control Panel.
    2. In the Search box, type troubleshooting.
    3. From the results, click Troubleshooting > Network and Internet.
    4. Under Network, run the following: Internet Connections, Network Adapter, and Incoming Connections.
    5. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

Get back to us with the result.

I try connecting with telnet on command window, not with a browser... I need to connect with a backup software, which used to work and suddenly stopped being able to connect to 443, and I found it is a systemic issue as I can't use port 443 with any software any longer.

With port 443 I get a blank window on telnet, while with 80 I get a message of connection refused, while e.g. with 4242 it works...

For us to further isolate the issue, kindly provide the answers to the following questions:

    • Have you tried using the port 80 to see if it makes any difference?
    • What browser are you using?
    • Are you experiencing the same issue with other browsers?

    Regards.

    Hi Lov,

I have not made any changes prior to the issue, and I don't get error messages from telnet, nor from other software, except that they say they can't connect via port 443.

Troubleshooting did not give any result, no changes to apply...

By the way, I am using Windows 7.

    Lorenzo
