File Picker/Pickerhost.exe crashing every minute causing currently used application to "alt-tab" to desktop

Hi There,

I've been getting this issue for months where i'm in the middle of a application such as a game and it would "alt-tab" to the desktop every few minutes, with nothing new that has launched. I have looked more into it and found that "Werfault" was causing this, I looked at the logs and it seems to be due to FIle Picker UI or Pickerhost.exe that is crashing every minute.

I'm  not sure how to resolve this, I would greatly appreciate it if you are able to assist.

Regards,

Harry

    Hi minangkabu,

I deleted the file in the Local Folder and its not coming up in the error reporting log since, so it looked like it worked!

    Many thanks!!

    Hi Minangkabu,

    1. Yes - Pickerhost.exe exists in system32 - version 10.0.15063.0 - 97.9kb
    2. No - in local folder its version - 10.014393.0 13.5kb
    3. My Window build is the same as the system32 version

    Hope that helps

    Regards,

I just checked my PC, and I do not have a PickerHost.exe file in my

    C:\users**<username>\appdata\local** folder

I only have it in c:\windows\system32

my version is 10.0.17046 which matches my windows build

Do you have a PickerHost.exe in your c:\windows\system32?

Does the size and version match the one in *C:\users* Harry \appdata\local?

Does the version match your windows build number?
