"Press Windows logo key + period (.) to open an emoji panel" does not work

The "What's New" page on the Creators Update (at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4043948/windows-10-whats-new-in-fall-creators-update-1709) says:

"Press Windows logo key  + period (.) to open an emoji panel, then express yourself with emoji wherever you want, such as conversations, docs, and even web searches."

Well, it doesn't work. Nothing happens no matter where I try it.

What could the problem be?

That's really not a solution. Once again, instead of delivering quality products that work as advertised, Microsoft makes its customers jump through hoops following undocumented procedures. On which page is the semicolon mentioned? Oh, that's right, it's not. And it doesn't work, either.

No thanks, I don't feel like rebuilding the car just because there's a hole where you said the cup holder would be.

    Hi,

New Emoji and a Useful Shortcut is one of the new features in the Windows 10 fall Creators Update. If Windows key + period is not working, you may try using a semicolon instead of a period.

If the issue still continues, we suggest performing a clean boot. This process is being performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.

Refer to this **article**and follow the steps under How to perform a clean boot.

Note: Please go through the section: Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting of the KB article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

It's available in US English keyboard only. (as it states) When I change my keyboard from English UK to English US then the shortcut keys work as advertised.

semi colon does not work!  why bother going through all the procedures to do a clean boot, we should not have to do that, you really should have made sure  your updates and new features work properly!

When I changed BOTH my Language to English US AND the Keyboard to US then the Emoji panel appeared.

To do this: Start> Settings (gear icon) > Region and Language> See all your settings there.   If you have not got English US, Add a language.

Next, down in the task bar (near the time) there will be 'ENG', click on it and select the English US with the US Keyboard.

    Then it works!

It would appear that all these Creators updates only work for US settings.

BTW, the dictation services also started up, but I had to go into the settings and activate them under Security> 'speech, inking and typing'.

FYI I live in New Zealand (In the South Pacific) and My Language was set to English New Zealand with a US Keyboard.   Just having the US Keyboard was not enough, it had to have both the Language and the keyboard set to US
