standard serial over bluetooth links

Anonymous

What are these links?  Does each one connect to a new bluetooth device or are they just phatom ones using up ports?

I have six standard serial over bluetooth links using up COMS 10, 11, 3, 4, 6, 9

I only have 2 bluetooth devices.  One is a sport headphone which I sometimes use with my laptop and the other is a mini mobile speaker.  Therefore should there only be 2 ports used for this?

Thanks

Noreen

I did go in and delete (uninstall) all audio drivers for bluetooth device except for the Windows and Intel ones.

I really need step-by-step instructions.  I am so ignorant with tech stuff.

Thanks, Noreen

    Hi Noreen,

Based on the details that you have shared, we would like to verify if you are encountering issues due to multiple standard serial over Bluetooth links. When you connect a Bluetooth device to your computer, it requires a driver to communicate/synchronize the devices and assigns a standard serial over Bluetooth link com. For us to better assist you, we would like to ask for additional information.

    • Are you getting an error message when connecting a Bluetooth device?
    • What is the current build and version of your Windows 10 PC?
    • May we request a screenshot of the Device Manager?
    • How do you connect your Bluetooth devices?

We hope to hear from you soon.

    Hi Jennifer,

    Thank you for your reply.

Picture #1 was taken before I scanned and paired my Bluetooth headset.

Picture #2:  After I paired and connected it. Even though it shows that I only have one new Bluetooth device I’m confused why it shows 2; one headset and one stereo.  Is that normal?

I can hear the music through my headset, but I can’t pause it using the buttons on my headset.  So no controls from headset.  What is strange is I can hear it through my headset no matter what playback device I choose from my speaker playback device list.

When I power off my headset the sound window goes back to Speakers High Definition Audio device which is my notebooks system speakers.  However, when I try to play music I can’t hear it.  When I go into Sound and click on configure I test the speakers and I can hear the sounds then.

This is all so crazy because now I powered up my headphones again and have tried all 3 (1More headset, 1 More headphones and high definition audio device and I can’t hear the music from my iTunes at all.  The only one that I can configure is Speakers High Definition Audio Device (even though it tests ok, but I can’t hear my music).  The other 1More devices show configure grayed out.  So I am unable to test them that way.

I don’t even want to pair and connect my Sharkk mini portable speaker and see if that works.  It hasn’t before so I can’t see it doing it now.

The thing is I could hear and control both my Sharkk and 1More 2 weeks ago.

Pic #5:  I’ll go back into device manager now to see if anything has changed.

I have lost track of Pic 3 and 4, but I have taken the screen shots in that order.

Does this help at all?  Would this be due to the Microsoft update?  If so, how do I uninstall that update and then re-install it?  Obviously, I need the update – don’t I?

    Answers to your questions:

    • No error messages when connecting my Bluetooth devices
    • Edition: Windows 10 Pro, Version: 1709, OS Build 16299.64
    • I’ve done a few screen shots.  I hope this helps.
    • I go into Bluetooth, then Add a Bluetooth device.  Then I click on add Bluetooth and other devices.  Then I have 3 choices; Bluetooth, Wireless display or dock and Everything else.  I choose the first one.  I then make sure my Bluetooth device is on and signalling then when it shows up from the scanning I click on it.

    Thank you

    Hi Jenifer,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.  I do appreciate all the time and effort that went into helping resolve this.

Before I did a system restore my friend suggested trying her portable Bluetooth speaker.  I did and it worked fine.  So I have tossed out my old one and have bought a new one.

Thank you so much for all the help!

    Noreen

Thank you for the detailed response. To help us isolate the issue, we would like to suggest the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Disconnect your Bluetooth devices.
    2. Open the Device Manager and locate your Bluetooth devices.
    3. Right-click the device and select Properties.
    4. Go to Driver tab and click the uninstall button.
    5. Once you are done, go to the Settings app.
    6. Click Update & security and go to Troubleshooting tab
    7. Look for the Bluetooth troubleshooter and click the button to run it.
    8. Reconnect your Bluetooth devices to install the drivers and check if the issue will persist.

Let us know how it went so we can provide additional steps.

    Hi Jennifer,

I followed your instructions, but nothing changed.  It said drivers installed, but still no sound.  I have a jack for this device.  I saw that the battery was low so I plugged it in, but still it didn't play.

I have a confession to make.  A few days ago I downloaded a program called Driver Support.  It did some fixes and updated some drivers.  The next day after I installed it, a window popped up and it kept wanting to update drivers.  This kind of scared me.  It said at the bottom of their web page Microsoft Gold member or whatever so I trusted it.  I did some searching and the reviews were not too good.  Some said it installs drivers that do not have good quality.

Anyway, I uninstalled it and cancelled my subscription (which I didn't even know I had-thought it was a one time payment).  It stated that the drivers will not be reverted back until by subscription has ended on Dec 15.

What to do?  What to do?  I feel that I keep messing things up.

In your instructions, I uninstalled my 2 bluetooth devices, but in the list it has 1 Intel bluetooth device and 3 Windows bluetooth devices.  Should I have uninstalled them too?

I appreciate your patience with me and your efforts in helping me.

    Noreen

PS:  do you want me to take anymore screen shots?
