Hello

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64bit, on 3 1080p monitors. While playing games like Battlefield 4 and Just Cause 3 for example the game while exit full screen mode randomly. It some time will happen at certain times and random times for example 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30 etc. I have stopped all applications I don't need running and the problem still happens. I have looked in the Event Viewer and can not find any entry's for the times that it occurs. I have looked on multiple forums to see that everyone seems to say it is a windows issue. I have tried backdating my video driver. Also reinstalling the Games. I always keep all my drivers upto date, & have no errors in the Device Manager. This has only started happening in the last 2 months or so & is getting very annoying. I have run out of ideas so if anyone has a solution please let me know

Win 10 up to this point ( v1709 ) does not have an inherent issue with games minimising, changing to Windowed mode, or closing spontaneously

( heaps of potential for creating such issues if one of the big bi-annual updates corrupts a bit of something here or

there though). There is an issue with some games launching to Windowed mode if I click on anything while the game is loading,

but this was with Win7 too, and would be the game doing the switching.

I reckon it's also unlikely that gpu drivers or compatibility settings would be involved. If any compatibility option were required, and

has not been enabled, the game is not likely to run properly at all.

I believe the most common reason for this issue is from software conflicts, checking for auto-updates, or otherwise wanting to force

    themselves into the foreground.

Various system 'optimising' and overclocking software (including those pre-installed or on disk w/ motherboard).

Client software (Steam, Skype, TeamViewer, etc.), and printers, are a few examples of software that are known

for stealing focus, from time to time ( new version of ZzzZ may have an issue the earlier version didn't  ).

    • On line gaming has it's own set of issues, such as ping, and the server you are playing on (overcrowded, etc.), affecting games in this way.
    • While running in Clean Boot can help find a conflict from software that launches while booting into Windows,

or conflicts from Services, there is still potential for issues from Scheduled Tasks, or software the user launches after booting into Windows.

    • BernieM had an issue installing his Nvidia drivers as well.  After the 1709 update, I had to install Nvidia drivers via Safe Mode

(first time ever). This was triggered by Windows Updates stuffing around with my drivers, which made it necessary to run Driver Fusion

(or Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall the driver because the Nvidia drivers were no longer listed in Programs and Features.

I have tried a clean boot but this still happens & it also just happened in Tomb Raider as well. According to Rohit Chettri in the post this has been an ongoing issue with Microsoft Windows 10 since the Insider program. Running the game in windowed mode does not fix the problem of running the games in fullscreen mode. I am happy to work with Microsoft to fix this problem. The games still exit fullscreen mode at 12pm everyday, there must be a reason why this happens at this time.

    Hello Bernie,

    Thank you for the update.

I am sorry for late response.

    I appreciate your efforts.

I would suggest you to perform clean boot and check the issue.

    Refer this article:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

(Also holds good for Windows 10)

Clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.

Please also refer suggestions from Rohit Chettri replied on April 30, 2015.

    Please keep us informed.

    Thank you
