Hello. I found this article (KB 314343) and attempted to convert my hard disk to a dynamic volume so that I can extend it to use the unallocated space. I followed these instructions:
Convert a Basic Disk to a Dynamic Disk
Use the Disk Management snap-in in Windows XP to convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk. To do this, follow these steps:
- Log on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-clickComputer Management.
- In the left pane, click Disk Management.
- In the lower-right pane, right-click the basic disk that you want to convert, and then clickConvert to Dynamic Disk.
I got stuck at this point, because when I right-clicked that disk, "convert" was not an option. Is there another way to do this without having to buy software? I tried using Acronis Disk Director, but it won't do anything over 100 MB with the trial version.
The computer is running XP Pro. Thank you.
