Error "Update available /.php" & "The parameter is incorrect"

I have been getting this pop-up dialog box titled "Update available" and message "/.php". Nothing appears on task-bar. This happens every time I restart windows & it keeps appearing about every half a second (look at the dark shadows) until I press the okay button, and then it gives another dialog box "the parameter is incorrect". Pressing okay on this dialog box just continues the previous cycle.

I cannot ignore it because these dialog boxes appear above any other window. Can someone guide me how to fix this?

So finally I've solved it. Here are some steps, in case someone need.

  1. Using Spy++ I've pointer to the window and found related process. In my case it was FFPRODUCTUPDATER. [Spy++ is part of Visual Studio, but you can find alternatives, just google it]
  2. Searched hard drive for the process. In my case it was some MP3 cutter/jointer, which I had downloaded few days ago. I uninstalled the program, restarted and the problem of course disappeared.

I suspect the program was either malware or adware/spyware.

    Hi Varun,

This could have been caused by a corrupt program on Startup. Seeing that you have opened the Task Manager page, we suggest that you click on the Startup Taband check if there is any anomalous program showing on the dropdown  list.  Are you seeing an unknown program on the list.

Furthermore, the error message is also suggesting that a Windows update is needed. Based on the version and built of Windows you have posted, we suggest that you contact your device manufacturer to verify Windows update compatibility. Give us a feedback on the device manufacturer advise.

Keep us updated with the status of the issue and we'll be glad to assist you further.

    Hi Varun,

One of the possible reasons why you are encountering issues with installing updates in Windows 10 is a corrupted user account. To troubleshoot the issue, we suggest adding a new user account and see if the same issue occurs on a new user profile. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

    1. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accounts  > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.
    2. Type a user name, password, password hint, and then select Next.

Once you are done with the steps, get back to us with the results.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I posted the screenshot of task  manager to show the list of running processes, to catch any suspicious processes. I disabled every item in startup tab of task manager, and restarted the laptop but got same dialogbox. Also, windows seems to be fully up to date. But there is a new version of windows 10 available (as it notified me a few months ago) but for that atleast 8GB free space is required but I have only 4.5 GB free.

Guys, I had the same issue, but i was able to find which program creating the issue. If you uninstalled something & if it is left some stuff in the program folder, CCleaner will tell you when you clean the registry. In my case it was FFUpdater.exe. Or you can check carefully in the program folder anything is there that you already uninstalled. Anyway  I couldn't delete it because it says program in use. Then I search it through google and download unlocker 1.9.2 from below link. Finally after 3-4 hours struggling this was fix the pop up '' Update available /.php'' issue. What a relief!
