Mobile Hotspot settings freezes after starting Hostpot

I recently did the Windows 10 creators update, the Mobile Hotspot seems to be having issues.

On starting, it shows the status as "connecting" and the Mobile Hotspot section in the settings does not open, instead the Settings menu freezes.

Please provide information on how I can acquire the logs so that I can obtain more information on the issue. Also, I tried to troubleshoot but it did not help.

After a day of troubleshooting, a seemingly unrelated solution seemes to have solved both my mobile hotspot issues, but also the high CPU issues related to the ICS and BFE service processes that I was also having issues with along with this.

I didn't figure this out--just been hunting around and found an answer that I wanted to get back here as it looks like the same thing.  See this thread for details: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-performance-winpc/after-update-to-version-1709-internet-connection/ab68fb4c-a1b8-4ec3-aa18-32a104e21172?auth=1

The basic summary is that resetting the Windows Defender Firewall to the default settings resolved the issue.

To do this open

Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows Defender -> Open Windows Defender Security Center -> Firewall and Network Protection -> Restore Firewall default settings

Hope this helps and works for someone else...  Seems like a fairly widespread issue.

    Volla! Its working.

Fix: Just removed Connectify and restarted the system. It works as expected. Possibly it was due to some driver issues with Connectify.

    Hi,

There are several reasons why the hotspot setting is not working as expected on your PC. It can be due to the recent changes that occurred or a setting that was not configured correctly.  For us to better assist you, we would like to ask for additional information:

    • What build and version of Windows 10 are you running?
    • Aside from freezing, are you also getting an error message or code?
    • Can you tell us the troubleshooting steps that you have already tried so we can isolate the issue?

At the same time, you can check for the logs by following these steps:

    1. On your keyboard, press Win+R to open Run dialog box.
    2. Type eventvwr.msc and hit Enter.
    3. In the Event Viewer window, right-click Event Viewer and select View.
    4. Click Show Analytic and Debug logs.
    5. Once enabled, go to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > WLAN-AutoConfig to view logs.

We hope to hear from you soon.
