My os is Windows 8.1.
AdwCleaner broke my internet connection
Hi,
I am experiencing some issues with the internet connection after running a scan with AdwCleaner (without deleting any of the found elements as they were not dangerous). It is difficult for me to access the internet: sometimes the white error page appears with a message saying that the proxy server does not work (but I have never used a proxy server), sometimes I can access the internet but the loading is too slow. Some issues also occur with apps (such as msn sports or msn news), while Windows update and the store work fine. So it seems that some softwares can access the internet and some others cannot. Strange enough, this only occurs with the ethernet connection, while the wireless connection works fine.
I have tried resetting the internet connection by running the following commands, but nothing changed:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
netsh winhttp reset proxy
I did not reset the firewall (as it is sometimes adviced to) because I do not want to lose all of the settings.
The fact that these issues only occurs with the ethernet connection makes me think that it is an ethernet issue.
The browser is internet Explorer.
What is your advice?
Thanks.

2017-11-26T09:41:28+00:00 I run all of the troubleshooter options as suggested by Kapil Arya, but no issues have been found. Now the ethernet connection is working fine, but it happens only from time to time.
Thanks.

We'll need to do some "digging" here. Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably without quoting this post:
1a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?
1b. Did the computer come with Win8 (or Win8.1) preinstalled, did you do a clean install of Win8 (or Win8.1), or did you upgrade a (e.g., Win7) computer to Win8?
1c. Who manufactured the computer (e.g., Dell; HP; Lenovo; Acer)?
1d. Have you ever done a Refresh? ...a Reset?
1e. Has Windows 10 ever been installed?
2a. What is the full name of your currently-installed third-party anti-virus application or security suite (i.e., not Windows Defender!), if any, and when (approx. date) does your current subscription (if any) expire?
3a. What problems were you having that you thought scanning with AdwCleaner might resolve?
3b. What other third-party anti-malware applications (i.e., not Windows Defender!) are installed, if any? What third-party firewall, if any?
- Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?
- Have you ever run the Norton Removal Tool and/or the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool?
- Is KB4048958 and/or KB4040974 listed in Installed Updates (not Update History)? [1]
- What Update Version & KB number are displayed in the second line of text in IE11's Help | About [Alt+H+A] tab; e.g., Update Version: 11.0.54 (KB1231231) ?
- Is Adobe Flash Player v27.0.0.187 installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
• Do NOT attempt to install or upgrade Flash via the above page! Stop at item #1!
- Is Firefox version 57 (or higher) and/or Google Chrome version 62.0.3202.94 (or higher) or any other alternate browser installed?
- Are you in the habit of using "Registry cleaners" (e.g., Registry Mechanic; System Mechanic; RegCure; RegClean Pro; Advanced SystemCare; Total System Care; Glary Utilities; Registry Booster; McAfee QuickClean; AVG Quick Clean; AVG PC TuneUp; Norton Registry Cleaner; Norton PC Tuneup; PCTools Optimiser; SpeedUpMyPC; FixMyPC; PC Doctor; TuneUp Utilities; WinMaximizer; WinSweeper; Comodo System Cleaner; Advanced System Optimizer; CCleaner Registry Cleaner component)?

Please run Network Adapter troubleshooter from Control Panel > Troubleshooting > View all. See if it helps you.
Hope this helps, Good luck :)
