You have two choices as I explained.
- In your browser, go to Gmail.com and log in, or...
- Get an email client and set it up for Gmail.

I have a computer with Windows 10 that I have Windows Live Mail installed. I have just purchased another computer with on Windows7.
I want gmail installed on the new computer. I have a gmail address. I want to have the Windows 10 computer with WLM the other with gmail.
Please could somebody explain to me what I need to do so that when I use my Windows 7 I can receive & send gmail. What do I need to do with the Windows 7 computer to install gmail only.

You can still get Windows Live Mail, but keep in mind it is no longer supported.
This is the only link left that is working that I know of. Microsoft pulled the download after support ended. I suggest you save the executable file in a safe place incase you need it again.

Reading my question I can see why you were confused. I will put it another way. I have a computer with Windows 7 installed, At the moment I do not any e-mail set up on it. I want to be able to use gmail for my e-mails on the computer. Please could you explain what I need to do.
