Windows doesn't detect my Huion 420 tablet correctly.

I recently bought a Huion 420 tablet. For the first time it worked fine, but after a day it suddenly changed the mouse mode to relative instead of absolute which is the normal mode. I have now idea what caused this problem or how to fix it. I don't even know if this problem has anything to do with windows not detecting it properly or me just not being able to set things up the right way.

Now the tablet works like a laptop touchpad which makes the tablet completely useless for me.

I'd apreciate any help or suggestiom how to fix this.

Thanks for the Answer, but i recently exchanged it for a new one and it turned out that the first tablet was somehow broken. It is now working perfectly like it was supposed to.

I am sorry for not writing that it got fixed earlier and thus wasting your time trying to solve it.

    Thanks for confirming, Marvin.

In this case, we suggest that you update your Windows version to the latest build. Installing any important and optimal updates can often correct issues by replacing outdated files and fixing vulnerabilities.

The best way to keep your PC current is to turn on automatic updates. With automatic updates, you don’t have to search for updates online or possibly miss critical fixes or device drivers for your Windows PC. Windows Update automatically installs important updates as they become available. To turn on automatic updates in Windows 10:

    1. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. If you want to check for updates manually, select Check for updates.
    2. Select Advanced options, and then under Choose how updates are installed, select Automatic (recommended).

You can also try manually updating your Windows version to the latest build. Here's how:

    1. Go to the Update history page.
    2. Find the most recent update KB for the version of Windows 10 you have – it’s usually at the top of the list – and either write the KB number down or copy it.
    3. Go to the Microsoft Update site and search for the KB number.
    4. Select the link for the download, and then choose Download. Select Save if you are prompted.
    5. When the download completes, select Open to start the update.

Kindly update us with the result so we can further assist you.

I am using Windows 10 Home version 1607

The OS Build 14393.1770 and I am using the 64 bit version.

It hasn't been updated since I first got this tablet.

I connected it to a different computer and didn't get the exact same problem, but it didn't work either. On that computer it worked completely like a laptop touchpad. On my main computer it uses absolute coordinates to figure out the position it has to be but after that it is behaving like a touchpad. I know that because normaly moving over the whole tablet should move the cursour over the whole screen, but for me i have to do it multible times. But because it resets its position to where i first tap it makes it impossible to use. So its basically a misxture of the mode i am trying to archieve (absolute) and the one of a touchpad (relative).

I also tried updating my drivers, but in my device manager it is compeltely gone even if i make it show hidden devices. When i go to the "devices and printer" section where only aditional connected devices are shown it shows it but from there I can't update drivers. I don't know if this is supposed to be like this but it is shown as a keyboard maybe thats why it works like a laptop keyboard touchpad.

I also tried installing drivers manually from the Huion website, but they changed absolutely nothing, because they aren't detecting it as a tablet.

    Hi Marvin,

Driver incompatibility between your device's driver and your current Windows version might be one of the possible reasons why you're having this issue. However, to identify the exact cause of this, we would like to ask for additional information:

    • Which Windows version or exact build are you using? To get the Windows version and build number of your PC:
    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Click System.
    3. Click About.

    You can also do this:

    1. Hit Start.
    2. Type winver.
    3. Press Enter.
    • Was Windows upgraded recently?
    • Have you tried connecting your device to another computer to check if the same issue persists?
    • Have you tried updating your drivers? If not yet, kindly follow these steps:
    1. Open Start, enter Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
    2. In the list of hardware categories, find the device that you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
    3. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and then follow the instructions.

It's best to let Windows install device drivers automatically. But if Windows can't find a driver for your device, you can look for a driver on the device manufacturer's website. Driver updates are often available in the support section of such sites.

We look forward to your response.
