Unhandled exception has occurred in your application .net framework - Windows 10 (After new update)

I just had a windows update (on Thanksgiving 2017), restarted and upon signing in I get a pop up from Microsoft . NET Framework with an error message (pasted below). I tried to follow a troubleshooting link on another thread that was for a similar issue but the link was dead - so I am reposting now - see if I can get this fixed.

I have Windows 10 and according to the Registry Editor I am working with NET Framework 4.7 ( DWORD Value 460798).

Please help?

I'm honestly not super savvy - so a lot of this is gibberish to me.

    Hi Sam,

    The unhandled exception error sounds like a broken system file. It may require you to manually reinstall the framework. It requires editing the registry. However, inaccurately modifying may cause serious issues. At this point, we suggest reinstalling it by downloading the installer on this link. A guide link is available on that site.To further assist you better, we'd like to ask the following:

    • Which version or build of Windows device are you using? To verify your Windows, press Windows + R to open the Run window. Type winver and press Enter. A new window will open showing the version and build number of your Windows device.
    • Can you provide us all the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far?
    • What is the specific update did you receive?
