Authenticated users are those who are able to sign into Windows 10 on the computer.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: control userpasswords2

    Hit Enter

Are there any other users on the computer?

If you recently updated to Windows 10, try the following:

    Open Start > Settings > Accounts > sign-in options

    Scroll down to Privacy

    Toggle off

Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.

Many thanks, I got some understanding now of Authenticated Users from all your answers. I do not know all the facts but after watching some YouTube on this particular topic, I managed to remove Authenticated Users and managed also to remove other users from accessing certain partitions of the hard drive!

Thank you all for your valuable advice.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: control userpasswords2

    Hit Enter

The results reveal that the persons who are able to log in and use this computer are myself (under group - administrators, users). and OtherUsers (under group - users), so why do I have the Authenticated Users when I clicked Security in the Property of my other partition in D drive? Who are they? My concern is can I remove them as users who have permission to access my D drive? In doing that will I block myself as well?

Is this a sudden, new problem/concern or...?

Are any other IObit applications installed (e.g., Advanced SystemCare)?

What Version & OS Build of Windows 10 is currently installed?

    • Press & hold the Windows Key and press the R key. In the RUN dialog, type WINVER and press the Enter key.

    Hey there,
Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

Authenticated users are people who are signed in. This could be signed into the device with a Microsoft Account, if they have added an account.

Unless they are the admin, they won't be able to access documents or files on other users accounts. If it's you on your computer, then you don't have to worry about that either. However, if you type into Cortana Windows Defender and open the Defender App, you can set it so Documents and other folders can not be accessed by apps unless you give them permission through the defender page.

Please let me know how this goes
    Regards,
