Hi.  I am trying to find the ip address for my wireless printr (Canon Pixma MG5220) on my home network.  I am on the latest version of Windows 10.  I go to devices, properties, hardware  - the location is shown as "Root Print Queue".  When I go to devices, properties, ports, configure ports I get a pop up that says "No item to be set for this port".  I have also gone to the command function (cmd) and pinged for devices, the run "arp -a".  I get of list of ip addresses, but how do I know which one is the printer?  Any advice is greatly appreciated!

BTW - I have searched using both my computers, but get the same results on both.  I am able to print from these computers, but need the ip address for the printer so I can test a printer app on my iphone (This is not an air printer, and I'd like to print without having to go the computer.)

Aha! It's easy when you know how.

Your printer's IP address is probably assigned dynamically - meaning it could be different every time - by your router. Open your router's administration console (which you password-protected, right?) and look for the list of clients to find out what IP has been assigned.

If you want to reliably locate your printer by it's IP address, it's better to assign it a static - i.e., unchanging - IP address. This is also done in the router's administration console.

Here's another way to find the IP: Go to Control Panel and open Devices and Printers. Right-click on the printer's icon and select Properties. In the Properties sheet, open the Web Services tab and look on the bottom.

There are probably other methods, but the Russians may be watching this forum.

Thank you, you are incredibly helpful, I was just about to give up (but I do realize the Russians are watching so I'll keep this short)

    Happy Holidays,

    Thanks so much
