If the computer is a Toshiba there is the following FAQ from Toshiba which also applies to Windows 10 upgrade:

Try uninstalling the two programs (TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator, TOSHIBA Disc Creator) if they are installed.
Be sure to restart the computer afterward.
If te computer is not a Toshiba is the cddvdw showing up in the Device Manager with an error?
What is the make and model of your computer?
Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand CD/DVD drives
Right click it then click Update driver
Follow the on screen instructions.
If that does not work, uninstall the driver then exit Device Manager then restart your computer.
