No 1920x1080 Resolution After Latest Windows 10 Update

Anonymous

After the recent latest update from Windows 10 (the Fall Creators Update) I cannot set my laptop / notebook resolution beyond 1400x1050, while before installing the recent update it was able to be set in 1920x1080 as the maximum resolution.

I'm using DeLL XPS Studio 1647 with built in ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4670 (Factory default, no upgrades at all). I have researched the probability of graphic cards driver issue and from what I've found I'm sure the source of my problem is incompatible graphics driver. The following source: (https://community.amd.com/thread/190267) states that the only means to update my graphic drivers is by using Windows update since the latest driver is not included in the AMD official website anymore (Latest version available is only for Windows 8). I have tried to check for missing updates but to no avail as Windows Update says my Windows version is up to date, I cannot roll back the installed drivers nor uninstall them from device manager as the only clickable option is the "Uninstall Device" which I believe not the issue and would create another problem.

I hope someone could help me regarding my issue, as for now the options that I have are: Waiting for fix from Windows, keep on researching for a workaround, waiting someone who knows the solution for this.

Also I attached more details of my system below, Cheers;

Hi Mako, your Display Driver will need rolling back . . . Windows Update has lately been installing incorrect display drivers . . .

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Display Adapters Section

Right click your graphics card, choose properties

On the Driver Tab, click 'Roll back Driver'

Close Device Manager and restart your system

If there is no roll back available or that does not work, go to the Support page of the manufacturer of your PC/Laptop

Download the Device Driver they recommend for your Display Adapter/GPU and install that version, until Microsoft come out with a fix . . .

I would like to thank all the replies and given help by other user(s) regarding my issue with screen resolution bug after the recent update. I have tried what Mr. Sumit suggested, unfortunately to no luck, as for Mr. Dave's suggestion it worked previously (before I wrote this topic however) since I have this error for two times which on 1st one: I was able to rollback the driver changes, and on 2nd time: the option is not available (greyed out). However...

Good news! I just installed a new Windows 10 update today and everything runs fine back to normal. Can go full HD 1980x1020 resolution again and no more bug whatsoever. I noticed there's a driver update for the video card included on the update notes maybe that's what solved my previous low resolution issue.

Still, thank you again for all the replies and given suggestion from everyone. It's appreciated :)

*P.S. To anyone who might have similar issue like me, the really recent Windows 10 update might do the trick.

    Cheers

Option 1.Try Rolling back if you have an option:
See DaveM and Sumit Dhiman2 posts:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...
Option 2. Remove AMD drivers completely and Install the legacy ones from the AMD site:
    What you need to do:

    1. Uninstall everything of AMD using this: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/... and reboot
    2. Reboot.
    3. Make sure your device manager shows Microsoft Basic Display adapter.
    4. Download the legacy driver from here(You might have to do a bit of exercise to locate the driver:
      http://www.support.amd.com/en-us/download
5.Run the Setup and you should be good to go.
Option 3: See if Windows itself has some history of the Older Driver:
      Solution by Ken-C here:
      https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...
Please note all the steps need temporarily disabling of Windows update or driver updates so that newer driver doesn't install automatically.

    Why did this happen?

I wanted to say thanks for this!  Option two worked for me.  I have the exact same setup Dell XPS 1647 with Radeon 4670
