My custom mouse pointer keeps disappearing?

I own a three month old Toshiba laptop. comes with Windows 8 and updates every five seconds, you know the deal. It's been completely clean, only had to remove a virus once (Regclean Pro, ugh) and I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with it.

So I decide today, hey I want to change my cursor. That would be cool.

No, not cool.

I created an image, converted it to the .cur, and using the handy dandy control panel, change my cursor. I have about five minutes of messing around on my desktop going "Whoah, this is so cool" before I actually try to do something on Chrome. After about three seconds, my cursor disappears. I press control and it shows me that my mouse is still there and fully able to click things, but I cannot see it. Thank god, my laptop's touch screen, so I go back to the desktop and return said cursor to the default mouse thingy. It's fine. Change it to any other custom image, nope it's going blank, but that default mouse thing is fine.

Any advice on stopping this?

The first thing I wanted to do on my newly purchased Surface Laptop was to customize my own mouse cursor. I was experiencing the exact problem

Here is the solution that worked for me:  before you actually customize your mouse cursor, MOVE all of your custom mouse cursor files into C:/Windows/Cursors folder. Then you can customize

     your mouse cursor.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

I would like to know more information about the issue. Please answer the following questions in order to assist you better.

    1. What do you mean by “created an image, converted it to the .cur”?
    2. Is the issue confined to Google Chrome?

You may disable hide pointer while typing in the mouse settings and see if it fixes the issue.

    1. Press Windows key + X.
    2. Click on Control Panel, click Mouse.
    3. On the displayed Mouse Properties box, go to Pointer Options tab.
    4. On the selected tab, uncheck Hide pointer while typing checkbox under Visibility section.
    5. Click on Apply and Ok.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if there is any hardware issue.

    a) Press Windows key + W on your keyboard.

    b) Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting.

    c) Click on View All.

    d) Click on Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

    e) Click on Next button to run the troubleshooter.

You may also try to turn off 'switch the mouse pointer on or off' feature from the function keys.

Keep us posted on the status of the issue.

This solution did not help my problem because my custom mouse pointer keeps disappearing after using the solution you recommended.

    Thanks
