What is "Assure" from Microsoft.

I had a problem and reported it.  A "Microsoft" person called me and asked if I would pay $149.00CDN for an Assure subscription which would give me individual help if, as and when I needed it for a full year.  Is this true?  I cannot find reference to this program anywhere on the MS Account site.  Is this perhaps a scam?

I met with Microsoft Assure program a few days ago. It is a assistance service on remote desktop. The microsoft technicians connect to your pc and give asisstance to the  problems.

On our issue, my client delete all admin permissions and even administrator group's privileges on drive C:/. solutions I found on internet  doesn't work but  with Assure assistance, we're able to take back all permissions back. The  tech guy didn't give up and remotetly connects 5 time between 3 days then he found the problems one by one and get there. It's worth to money not only for year but for that specific fix I think.

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a 1-year Assure contract on the basis that it was a Microsoft product and therefore probably OK.  They have already solved a few issues for me and educated me about the Windows 10 security features.  I am very happy this service is available and wil probably keep the renewals going so I always have access.

Microsoft Answers has a lot of very smart folks supporting those of us who lose our ways, after all 90% of all "problems" stem from bioware issues, eh?  But Assure has the added ability of entering into the system and fixing it while you watch, so not only do you get a fix, but you get an education too!  That has served me well down through the years - and I make notes.

    CARRY ON Microsoft!

Yes, it is a scam. Microsoft does not do unsolicited calls. The company does not even know your name of phone number.

What is Microsoft Assure?  It appears I've been charged for it, according to my Microsoft account.  What is Microsoft Assure, $139 annually?  I don't think I've ever used it?  I don't think I'm going to "renew" my subscription.  I haven't been able to get an answers about the Microsoft Assure program.  If it is a support option I purchased, I'm wondering what kind of support I would get since I can't get an answer about the program?

    I would appreciate some clarification.
