Hi, I am trying to install the Creators Update on my computer, but it fails and has to recover every time I try. What system information should I post to help troubleshoot why the update continues to fail?

Thanks!

-Andrew

    Hi John,

Missing or corrupted Windows update components is one of the reason which may interfere with the update process and prevent it from completing. To effectively assist you with your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

    • Which Windows update are you trying to install on your device?
    • What is the current Windows build and version of your device? Type winver in the search box and press Enter to help you identify.
    • Are you getting any error messages when running the update?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps that you've performed to resolve your concern?

On the other hand, scheduling or pausing the updates in Windows 10 is still possible. To do this, you can follow the steps provided on this article. Also, for limited network allowance, refer to this link to utilize the metered connection feature.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

Excuse me for saying this but...A clean install, are you kidding me?  Why do customers have to go through hoops just to load a Windows 10 update?  I have exhausted my 50GB per month allowance on Hughesnet satellite trying to load this update since I can't schedule an update (another Windows 10 feature deletion) during a free download time and I'm not staying up until 2 am to try this update.  I have done all the steps indicated, outside of a reinstall of Windows 10, to try this update and it still fails.  There are two things I will not do for this update is #1 create another account and #2 clean reinstall.  No wonder customers are getting increasingly short of patience with Microsoft!  Why don't you offer a cd of updates?  I would gladly pay for that type of update rather than trying hopelessly to do it online.

When you download open it in File Explorer and double click on Setup.

You can also make a copy on a USB stick to have as a backup if you need to redo.

HI john. I fell your pain and frustration. Im having the same annoying problem since mid year. I have posted my problems, but to no avail, no solution work. Im running ASUS ROG GL502VT 1607 build. Had continuous loop of download and failed to install 1703/1709.  I really dont like to do clean install.

I mean my laptop build when bought was 1511 and upgraded to 1607 with no hiccups. Clearly a bug exist in 1703/1709.
