Good day!

I would like to ask about this error I recently got when I installed an update on Windows 10 on my laptop. After the install was made and restared my pc a blue screen appeared with an error that says

Your PC/Device must be repaired. The operating system couldn’t be loaded because a required file is missing or contains error.

File: werkernel.sys

Error Code: Oxc000000f

I was hoping this community could help me. Thank you.

    Hi,

This error code is usually caused by a missing or corrupted Boot Configuration Data file on your computer. It could happen due to power outages, errors when manually configuring the Boot Configuration Data, disk write errors, or viruses on boot sector.

For us to resolve the issue, we recommend that you follow the troubleshooting steps provided on this article: Troubleshoot blue screen errors. It contains a guided walkthrough on how to fix this error.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

Thank you for the clarification. Since it's still looping back to a blue screen error, it is better to restore or reset your PC using the Windows 10 installation media. Refer to the link and section that we provided on our previous post.

Feel free to post back if you have other concern.

Oh no. What I meant was I tried to go on a safe mode but it just restarts my pc and go back to the error. I can only access the Startup Settings and everytime I try to choose and option for example to Enable the Safe mode it immediately restarts my pc and go back to the page with a blue screen and the said error.

Thank you for your quick response. Since the issue also happens while in safe mode, it might be a hardware-related problem or the operating system is corrupted. We suggest that you use the Windows 10 installation media to restore or reset your PC. For your reference, check this article about recovery options in Windows 10. Please refer on the steps under this section: Use installation media to restore or reset your PC. Try restoring your PC on a restore point wherein the update is not yet installed. If it didn't work, it is better to reset your PC to reinstall Windows 10.

Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.
