After uninstalling McAfee, McAfee Service Controller and McAfee Validation Trust Protection Services are still running in 'Services'

Good Day,

I am unable to stop McAfee services in 'Services'.

Computer: Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit.

In Control Panel all McAfee products are not seen (as were uninstalled).

Task Manager shows the following products existent (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC):

  • McAfee Data Exchange Layer service
  • McAfee Management Service
  • McAfee Process Validation Service

Anyone come across such and could provide clues?

Thanks and regards!

Hi D_future, I am Rob, a volunteer and a 10 time and dual award MVP specializing in Windows troubleshooting and Bluescreen analysis. Please remember as volunteers we are not responsible for the development of Windows or the computer hardware and drivers.

You can stop them in Services and then use the McAfee Removal Tool to prevent leaving such remnants. Be sure to reboot afterward.

    Hello Sumit,

Thanks a lot for the response, and YES, the McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe) worked!

In fact, McAfee provided me another tool  - MFERemoval100.exe and this one requires several steps with switches for every component. I didn't have to do it with the one you provided.

I removed other McAfee registry entries manually after this step. Checked, all good!

    Wish you great days ahead!
