The language and keyboard I want are UK language with UK keyboard. But Windows keeps randomly switching to US keyboard.
If I set in Control Panel only this one language/keyboard, and then Windows switches to US keyboard, I have no way of getting back to a UK keyboard, other than going into Control Panel / Language -- which shows only one language, "English (United Kingdom)" -- and then adding some other language and deleting it. (WIndows Key + Space has no effect, nor the other switching keys, which I have disabled, and there is no language button on the task bar.)
As a workaround I've added a second language, "English (United States)". This at least gives me the language button on the task bar, which is a slightly quicker way of restoring the UK keyboard the next time it randomly switches. Interestingly (and frustratingly) when I click the taskbar language button it now shows THREE options, even though I have only set up TWO in the Control Panel (see screen cap below). When I have this setup, Windows Key + Space toggles between the three.
This only started happening about four weeks ago, so I'm wondering if it arrived in a Windows update? My WIndows version is 1703, OS Build 15063.850. I can't change this because the laptop is manged by my IT department.

I've just tried that. However the "Install or uninstall display languages" panel only shows me one language, "English (English)", and it won't let me uninstall it ("Next" is greyed out) presumably because it is the only one configured.
Thanks again.

Andre,
Thanks for the quick reply.
However I already have "Let me set a different input method for each app window" unchecked.
And, as I said in my post, I've disabled the switching keys. Under "Change language bar hot keys" I've set all three options to "Key Sequence = (none)".
As to Windows + Space, I've explained that (i) if I have only one language set in Control Panel, Windows +Space does nothing (ii) if I have two languages, Windows + Space switches between the two that I've set up AND the extra, ghostly, "UK English US Keyboard", which I have not set up.
Thanks again.
Ron
I pasted a capture of the taskbar button menu, but it hasn't come out in my post. It shows three options like this:
English (United Kingdom) US keyboard
English (United Kingdom) United Kingdom keyboard
English (United States) US keyboard
One possible reason that is causing the changing of keyboard language on your computer, may be due to some shortcut keys on your keyboard. To disable automatic keyboard layout change, kindly follow the steps below:
Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
Choose Control Panel.
Under View by, select Small icon.
Click Language.
On the left side, choose Advance settings.
Under Switching input methods, uncheck Let me set a different input method for each app window.
Click Save.
Restart your computer.
Accidentally pressing some shortcut keys may cause some unwanted changes on your computer. Kindly view the samples below:
Windows Key + Space key = Changes language/keyboard pairs.
Alt + Shift = Change Language.
Ctrl + Shift = Changes keyboard.
