Wired xbox 360 controller switched from Player 1 to Player 2 durring gameplay.

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 64bit. I have deleted and reinstalled my contoller drivers and deleted and reinstalled 360 Accessories 1.2 with no avail. I have also switched USB ports. Durring gameplay my controller will randomly switch from quadrant 1 being lit up to quadrand 2 being lit up. This causes the conroller to stop working until I log out of the game and log back in. After I log back in i will play for a few min and then the controller will switch back to player 1. Also, sometimes it will switch to having quadrant 1 and 4 lit up green and the camera with just spin around my player. I cannot find anyone else that has had this problem. Please help!

Gonna agree with this.  This is utterly ridiculous.  They give us such hits as "Games for Windows Live" and that infamous "Games Explorer" from Vista, which is a glorified shortcut folder, and then have the gall to say that Windows is soooo wonderful for games.  I'd agree that they need a control panel, but that would give we ignorant, huddled unwashed masses too much control of our own computers and Microsoft will never allow for that.

So it'd at least be nice if the damn computer could detect how many controllers are actually, physically, connected to it reliably.  If a user has a controller plugged in, and then logs out while leaving the controller plugged in, and then another user logs in, the controller will switch to player two.  Which, I mean, is ridiculous.  I could live without a control panel if the damn driver just #&$*%' worked.  It doesn't, and this SHOULD be fixed, but since we're using a perfectly-serviceable, functional, but OLDER controller (the horror!), it doesn't work.

    I'm so shocked:  https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tEjzh3Zdf\_Q/V1ltIj4pt0I/AAAAAAAAheY/Xm9QfrhOWxkKv85iKg5vHfWRBMIV-0XZgCLcB/s1600/63594749.jpg

found the same issue, searched it and found the answer on a steam forum: keep the controller connected to the computer, and restart from the option on the power screen, should reset back to player 1, just tried it then and it works!

I don't see an answer to this question that is accepted, I found this link that might help.

    https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/251603/Why+is+my+Xbox+360+PC+wireless+controller+stuck+on+player+2

It looks like there are game streaming services that take over the player 1 when they are on and force the controller to the 2 spot.  Some games don't care, but others do.

    Hope this helps.

Something that helped me for awhile was I went into the Device Manager, and I found two devices associated with my controller - one was a "Gameplay Controller", and the other was an "HID enabled device" or something like that. Anyways, I disabled the "HID device" one and it worked fine for awhile. However, after a little bit, I'm still having the same problem again.

The robot apocalypse is upon us, but all they have the capability to do so far is switch our Xbox controllers from P1 to P2, jam our CD trays and drain our smartphone batteries...

If anybody finds a solution, this would be a good place to put it - this is the #1 result on Bing when I looked the problem up.

I have a similar problem.  Mine has been player 2 for as long as I can remember.  I never had any problems using it in games that allow the controller - like Beat Hazard.  But I wanted to use it in Splinter Cell: Conviction (since the PC controls are horrid) I think it sees the controller as the second player so when I turn it from K/M controls to the controller it sits there and doesn't recognize any button presses at all.  I'm thinking that this might be my problem.
