My Windows folder in my C drive is huge (75.0 GB), is this normal and is there away to reduce it?

I was using the very helpful program, WinDirStat, to cleanup files on my PC. This is when I noticed that my Windows file took up an exorbitant 83 GB of space. I tried using disk cleanup on it, but that only got it down to 75 GB. This surely can't be the normal file size. I have a much bigger E drive, so I was wondering if it is at all possible to reduce the Windows file, or to move it to my E drive?

Hi neelin2, Since it is your Windows Folder that is taking up your space, I suspect it is a file called CBS.log that might be the issue.

In Windows File Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

    What size is CBS.log?

If CBS.log is huge (many GB's) here is the Fix:

Click your Start Button, type services and hit Enter to open the Services app

Scroll down to find the Windows Modules Installer service and double-click on it

Set its startup type to Manual

    Restart your System

    Then open Windows File Explorer

    Go to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

Delete all of the files in the CBS folder

    Restart your PC

Then go back into the Services App and set Windows Modules Installer Service back to Automatic Startup

When you ran disk cleanup did you use the "System Files" option in the lower left corner? And be sure all boxes are checked.

    You can use:

Start - Settings - System - Storage - on right "Change where new content is saved"

Also, see "Storage Sense" and "Change how we free up space".

Use TreeSize to find whatever large log file might be eating your disk space and delete it:

Yes, I did check all of the boxes when running disk cleanup. Furthermore, all of my content was already saving to my E drive or my one drive.
