Volume somewhat randomly goes all the way up or down to 100% or 0%.

So, I've recently (Yesterday) bought a new wireless headset: The Razer Man o War 7.1 Wireless. This is where the problems began.

Just to point out, I spent a very long time with Razer support, and as far as we can tell, there's no problems with the headset or the software.

Description of the problem: The Headset has a volume wheel on it, much like my previous headset, used to change the volume on the computer. The only differences being that you can press the wheel in to mute or unmute the volume. This feature works fine in some circumstances. When on the desktop, the feature works as intended. However, if any audio is playing from any app, game, or browser, very odd things occur. If I try to raise or lower the volume, or try to mute or unmute the volume as audio is playing (No matter the audio, even default Windows audio will do it), nothing happens. A little while after the audio stopped, the volume will then proceed to either skyrocket to 100% or drop down to 0%, and stay there as if I were constantly holding down the volume up or down buttons on my keyboard. What I mean by that is if I click to put the volume to 50%, it'll quickly scroll up or down to 100% or 0% right before my eyes. Continuing to use the volume wheel on my headset will not change anything unless I use a very specific pattern which is a very temporary solution.

Temporary solution: If the volume is constantly decreasing, I can make it stop by scrolling the volume wheel to act as if I'm lowering it, then I'll mute it, then scroll the volume up, and the volume will respond again. If the volume is at 100%, the opposite is done. I scroll the volume up, then mute it, then scroll it down, all with the headset.

Various solutions I've done with Razer Support:

1: I've uninstalled all the audio drivers of the headset, reset my computer, and had them reinstall.

2: I've uninstalled and reinstalled Synapse 2.0, the software that pairs with the headset for optimal use.

3: I've uninstalled Synapse 2.0 and tried it without the software, issue persists.

4: I've uninstalled Synapse 2.0 and installed Synapse 3.0 (The beta program), Issue persisits

5: The headset unit isn't defective as far as I or Razer Support can tell. Works on other computers just fine.

Various solutions I've done from similar (Though I couldn't find an exact) issues online:

1: Reinstalled Drivers

2: Unchecked all the enhancement boxes in the properties settings of the headset (Failed attempt, no Enhancement tabs, it's all done via the Synapse Software)

3: Various other solutions I really can't remember at this moment (I've been troubleshooting all day yesterday, mostly with Razer after I tried online solutions on my own, so my memory is a little fuzzy on them.)

Additional information:

1: I've got no sound card on my computer, all audio is handled by the motherboard itself.

2: The headphones connect via a 2.4GHz USB. It doesn't matter where the USB is plugged in on the motherboard, or if it's plugged into the extension dock that came with the headset.

3: Previous headset had no issues with the volume control, but it didn't control the actual volume of the computer, just the volume of the headset (I,e I always left my PC volume on 100% but had my headset volume around 30%)

4: Windows 10 (Up to date I believe)

I'm really not sure what else to try. The headset isn't defective nor does it have defective software. It doesn't depend on any app, game, or browser. The only thing I could think of that's causing the issue now is Windows 10 Itself. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hello. No, I didn't have another account on the computer. I made one, reset my computer, and logged in with the new one. The issue was still there.

The only difference being when the volume was changing on it own I couldn't move my mouse, but I believe that was just my computer still setting everything up on the new account slowing it down.

    Thanks for the update.

Just to verify, do you have another user account on your PC? If you only have one user account on your PC, you can try creating another local user or administrator account to check if the same issue persists. In this way, we can identify if the issue has something to do with a corrupted user profile.

Here are the steps on how to create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10:

    1. Select the Start  button, then select Settings  >Accounts>Family & other people>Add someone else to this PC.
    2. Enter a user name, password, password hint, and then select Next.

Kindly update us with the result.

    Hi,

We appreciate your efforts in providing details about your concern. In this case, we suggest that you perform a clean boot. It will start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs that can eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program.

On the article**"How to perform a clean boot in Windows"**, you will learn the step-by-step process on how to perform a clean boot depending on the Windows version that you're currently using.

Note: Please go through the section: "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer in normal startup after troubleshooting.

Kindly update us with the result.
