Folder Locker

Hello,

I have a folder containing spreadsheets and word documents, and the contents of this folder need to be protected due to the sensitive nature of the Material.

I have tried the "FolderLocker" mehod which I found online and here is the problem:

When I initially create the folder, it allows me to "lock the contents" without any problem.

When I unlock the folder and make some changes to the contents, I try to lock the folder again using FolderLocker.

I get a command prompt "Are you sure you want to lock the folder (Y/N)?"

I enter "Y" and then get a message saying "access is denied", and the folder remains unlocked.

Would appreciate some assistance with this.  Thank you.

Please give us a link to the page you found the method. It is not a Windows feature name I am familiar with.

Hi TansukhGanatra, I am Rob, a volunteer and a 10 time and dual award MVP specializing in Windows troubleshooting and Bluescreen analysis.

You really need to work with the support for the program you are running to lock the folder(s).

If you are running Windows 10 1709 or later there is a method built-in to Windows Defender called Controlled Folders. Also, Pro and above versions can use BitLocker.

Configure Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10

Enable Controlled folder access (some methods apply to all Window 1709 & later)

BitLocker is a professional level encryption program and should not be used unless one really understands that it is secure and can not be broken by any usual or inexpensive methods IF AT ALL. Only those with superior backup strategies should even consider its use.

BitLocker is more frequently used and supported by those in the TechNet IT Pro Forums.

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

There might be a compatibility issue if you have Windows 10 1709.

    Open Windows Defender Security Center

    Click Virus & threat protection

Click Virus & threat protection settings

Scroll down to Controlled folder access

    Toggle it off
