How do I safely put the following background and startup services to sleep to boost my computer speed? 

icloud, iTunes, Skype, Bonjour, Chromium,

Windows for home | Previous Windows versions | Performance and system failures

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: msconfig

    Hit Enter

    Go to the services tab

    Check the box, hide all Microsoft services

    Disable the remaining services which should include iCloud, iTunes, Skype, Bonjour and Chromium.

    Click Apply then OK

    Restart if prompted

    If you are asking about Startup programs, Right Click each Item in task manager and select Disable.
